The Police have commenced investigations into the suspected destruction of MTN’s 4G advertising posts in Accra over the last four days.

According to the company, a number of its standees have on two separate occasions been destroyed at the Danquah Circle and Ridge Roundabout in Accra.

“We are working with the Police to understand what is behind all this but at the same time we will guard  on our own in ensuring that we have our guys at where we will place the standees to monitor them because these involve a lot of investment,” General Manager for Consumer Market, Noel Kodjogah told Citi Business News.

The development comes days after MTN commenced the rolling out of its 4G service in the country.

According to the telecom operator it will be premature for now to accuse its competitors of being behind the destruction.

“I am just praying that our investigations will not prove to the fact that it will be any of our competitors from the other side who are part of this vandalism that is going on. If it is then we should relook at our stances and relook at our image that we portray in this industry it is one industry that is bridging the gap between the developed countries and us,” Mr. Kodzogah observed.

Though he would not readily give the extent of damage in monetary terms, Noel Kodjogah tells Citi Business News the development will not in any way affect the rolling out of the 4G internet service.

“Well if it is an orchestrated attempt to halt us and in our drive then I think they have actually not even scratched the surface or touched any skin of ours because we are very resolute in our plans and I can assure the public on this,” he stressed.
