A former Senior Presbyter of the Ash-Town Presbyterian Church in Kumasi, Mr. Frank Akwasi Siaw has emphasised the importance of deliverance in the lives of all Christians.

He said although Christians are saved from any bondage through the Blood of Jesus Christ, they needed to continuously work on their deliverance through repentance and prayers.

Mr. Siaw was speaking at a retreat organised by the Young People’s Guild (YPG) of the Ash-Town Presbyterian Church as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of the guild. It was under the topic, “Deliverance”.

Dwelling his message on Bible verses in Luke 4: 16-18, Ephesians 6: 10-12 and John 10: 10, Mr. Siaw indicated that these verses brought to mind that there were two powers at work in the world, indicating that “at the centre of these two powers is the human race – individuals”.

He mentioned God on the Trinity and His Angels as one of the powers, and Satan and his demons as the other. He explained that while God worked for the good of mankind, Satan worked for mankind’s destruction, failure, wicked acts, pain, stagnation and shame among others.

Mr. Siaw said the actions of Satan and his demons have given rise to the issue of deliverance.

He explained that deliverance does not only mean being set free from any demonic power and coming under the control of God, but also being release from the captivating power of and effects of sin and experiencing God’s forgiveness.
