Ghana News Agency's reporter Benedicta Esi Kaba dies

Accra, June 22, GNA - Mrs Benedicta Esi Barko Kaba, one of the most admired, thorough and finest reporters of the Ghana News Agency (GNA) has died.

She was 35.
Mrs Kaba died at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, after a short illness, a family source told the GNA.

The GNA Director of Administration, Mr Rex Annan, described her as a reliable hand who was very efficient and discharged her assigned duties very well.

He said her demise has come as a shock and surprise regarding her age.

'Management expresses its condolences to the bereaved family, we shall be there to mourn with the family when the time is due,' Mr Annan said.

The News Editor of the Agency, Mrs Yaa Oforiwah Asare - Peasah who said she has known Esi all her years at the GNA could not hold back her tears after the death was announced.

'I have known her for the past eight years, I have known her to be hardworking, respectful, and had high level of professionalism.

'She was a woman of peace, she never quarreled with anybody, she mixed well and worked peacefully with both superiors and colleagues.

'Mrs Kaba was quick to apologise whenever there was any wrong doing. We'll miss her, we'll miss her every aspect of life.'

Mr Divine Doe Koblah a retired head of the GNA Sub- Desk, posted on his Facebook that Esi was everybody's' friend and like a big sister to the young men in the newsroom.

Esi was born on May 24, 1981 in Tarkwa in the Western Region and attended St Louis Secondary School, Kumasi, from 1997 to 1999.

She obtained her Diploma in Communication Studies from the Ghana Institute of Journalism in 2005.

She was employed by the GNA on May 1, 2009.
She got admission to the University of Ghana where she graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Information Studies in November 2015

Esi was survived by her husband, Mr Joshua Kaba.
