The leadership of the Yendi chapter of the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) has threatened to block the Tamale-Yendi road in two weeks if the contractor working on it does not speed up work on it.

The Secretary, Abdul Majeed Hamid, alias Chendoo in a Citi News interview, accused the contractor, Fuzak Construction Company Limited of delaying the project, hence the threat.

He said the ultimatum is non-negotiable and thus urged the contractor to speed-up work.

Abdul Majeed Hamid bemoaned what he calls rampant crashes on the road due to its bad nature.

He recalled the death of one of the Managers of Bayport Financial Services on the road to buttress his submission.

The longest stretch of the Tamale-Yendi road which has been excavated is from Jimle to Kpachaa.

The Tamale-Yendi road as captured in President John Dramani Mahama's State of the Nation Address is one of government's priority projects in the Northern Region.

The road connects Tamale to other parts of the Eastern Corridor including Bimbila, Chereponi, Tatale and Zabzugu.
