THE HEAD pastor of the Peniel Evangelism Church at New Jerusalem at Afienya in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region is under investigations for psychologically abusing of the mother of his two children.
Rev. Isaac Bentil, a 32-year-old resident of Afienya was said to have abandoned one Esther Afful, a 29-year-old trader he has been cohabitating with for almost 6 years, to marry another member of his church.
The pastor who got married over the weekend is under investigations at the Ashaiman branch of the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) after a complaint was lodged against him.
He has been charged with three counts namely; causing psychological abuse, verbal abuse, financial and economic abuse of the Domestic Act, section 1 subsection (B) of Act 237 of Act 2007.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Juliana Obeng, the Public Relations Officer of (PRO) of the Tema Regional Police Command who confirmed the incident to the DAILY GUIDE related that the pastor lodged a complaint against Esther that she wanted to wreck his wedding.

She said the police initiated investigations into the matter and found out that the pastor has been dating Esther for almost 6 years and they have two children, 5 years and 9 months until he met his new wife and drove Esther away from their house.
According to her, the family attempted to resolve the matter but Pastor Bentil made it clear that he is no longer interested in Esther hence they should go their separate ways.
Both parties, she revealed, agreed on amount of GH₵8, 000 to be paid to Esther as compensation and an amount of GH₵1,500 for the upkeep of the two children.
“Since the issue was concluded some months ago, the pastor has only made available an amount of GH₵200 as feeding fee for his two children without making any attempt to pay the woman's compensation but was able to raise money to marry another woman,” the PRO said.
She indicated that the pastor's attitude provoked Esther who wanted to cause commotion during the pastor's wedding but was, however, advised to stop.
ASP Obeng said the case is under investigation and the pastor would be arraigned when investigations are completed.
