Accra, May 24, GNA - Thirty-five women were awarded at the 2016 Ghana Information Technology and Telecoms Awards (GITTA) whilst many other companies led by women also picked various awards.
Ms Yvette Atekpe, the Managing Director of Internet Solutions, was adjudged the Industry Personality of the Year while Ms Ethel Cofie's EDEL Technology Consulting won Information Technology Firm of the Year.
Ms Lucy Quist, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Airtel, was adjudged CEO of the Year.
The GITTA awards, which is six years, is the only award in Ghana which recognises the excellence in the information and communication technology industry. It is the most respected awards that celebrate excellence in innovation, product development and service delivery.
Speaking on the significant increase in women representation, Ms Ethel Cofie, CEO of EDEL Technology Consulting, said: 'It is really encouraging to see all the hard work is beginning to pay off and now we can say many women are winners at a technology award event in Ghana.'
EDEL Technology Consulting was recognised for leading the way in how technology can help organisations use modern project management techniques, standard software engineering and industrial strength architecture to deliver technology solutions to its clients.
EDEL helps organisations to leverage on strategy and technology to increase revenue, innovation and impact.
Ms Cofie said the award 'throws a challenge to us to keep being the best and to improve on our services delivered to our clients. Such awards motivate us to keep going and to give our all.
EDEL Technology, founded four years ago, provides information technology services for organisations including the World Bank, Dalex Finance, Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana and Clean Team Ghana.
It is currently working with the United States Africa Development Fund to build a micro working platform to help shape the future of work across Africa.
