Seychelles' decision to decriminalise homosexuality, taken on 19 May 2016, adds to the number of African countries where same-sex relations are legal.
Through this ground-breaking decision, Seychelles has joined the increasing number of countries which have taken steps to abide by their international human rights commitments to promote the equality of all, regardless of their sexual orientation. The EU reiterates its strong commitment to the equality and dignity of all human beings irrespective of their sexual orientation and gender identity.
