The Ashanti regional police command has placed five thousand Ghana cedis on any one who will provide information to arrest robbers who shot a police man to death today in Kumasi.
In a statement signed by the Ashanti regional police PRO Mohammed Tanko stated that, the police has allotted Ghc 5,000.00 for anybody who will assist the police with any information to arrest the robbers.
The officer, Corporal Frank Essel, a driver with the SWAT Unit at the Ashanti Regional police headquarters was shot on May 19 after the armed robbers stormed a hotel at Dichemmuoso in Kumasi.
Modern Ghana news gathered that, the police officer was shot in his vehicle parked in the premises of Open Space Hotel, with his mufti attire.
The masked armed men are reported to have entered the hotel at about 9p.m. and ordered two receptionists on duty to take them round rooms of guests in the hotel.
When the receptionists were delaying, the armed robbers shot one of them, while the other person sensing danger, escaped.
However, not clear how the officer who had his police uniform hanging in the front seat of the Benz car was shot at the that particular on that time.
