Akim Oda (E/R), May 6, GNA - Mr Kwabena Nkansah Asare, the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive, has inspected rehabilitation works on the Birim Bridge at Akim Oda.

The first phase of the work would be completed at the end of this month.

Briefing the media on Thursday, Mr Asare said the Akyem Oda Concerned Citizens Association brought to the attention of the Assembly the weak bridge which was forwarded to the Ministry of Roads and Highways who began undertaking the rehabilitation works.

Mr Asare said the bridge, which used to be a one-way carriage, would serve as a dual-carriage after the completion of the second phase of work to reduce vehicular traffic on the corridor.

Mr Asare, who was accompanied by members of the Assembly, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Roads and Highways for its swift response.

Mr Maxwell Kofi Anti, the Vice President of the Akyem Oda Concerned Citizens Association, expressed happiness about the urgent steps taken by the Ministry and the Municipal Assembly to ensure the rehabilitation of the bridge.

He pledged the Association's support to ensure the success of the work adding that it would continue to liaise with the assembly to check on the rest of the untouched social amenities and developmental projects in the area.

Mr Anti appealed to the citizens to lend their support to the association both in cash and kind to achieve its objective of developing Akim Oda and its envisions.
