Accra May 3, GNA - The Supreme Court on Tuesday threw out an application to submit fresh evidence by Abu Ramadan and another seeking to challenge the credibility of Ghana's voters' register.

The court presided over by Chief Justice, Mrs Georgina T Wood ruled that it found no merit in the case and dismissed same.

This gives the court the green light to go ahead with its judgment in the substantive case on Thursday May 5.

Mr Ramadan, a former youth leader of the People's National Convention (PNC) and Evans Nimako a farmer are challenging the EC that the voters' register in its current state was not fit to be used for the November polls.

They maintained that the current Voter Register should be cleaned through a Validation process.

At the last sitting the SC demanded from the EC as to whether the commission would be able to provide the court with a data base on people who used an outlawed National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) card, drivers' license among others to register.

The EC responded that it would be able to do so by going through its manual records to identify those registrants.

However the EC had earlier on told Nana Asante Bediatu, plaintiffs' lawyer that it was unable to furnish them with that kind of information.

Soon after the EC informed the SC that it could furnish them with those details, Nana Bedietuo Asante applied to introduce fresh evidence which suggested that the EC furnished them with untrue facts when it declared that it could provide them records.

Counsel told the court the SC that he had in possession tape recordings Mr Amadu Sulley, and Madam Georgina Opoku Anakwah, Deputy EC chairpersons saying that the commission was unable determine who registered with the NHIS card and that it's database captured no such information.

Panel members include Justices, Anin Yeboah, Sule Gbadegbe, Jones Victor Dotse, Baffor Bonnie and Ampah Benin.
