President John Mahama Wednesday April 27 continued his Accounting to the People tour in the Brong Ahafo Region with a call on the Techiman chief, Oseadeayo Ekumfi Ameyaw and the inauguration of the Abeaseman Community Senior High School.

Mr Mahama announced the commencement of a water systems project for Techiman to end the perennial water challenge in the area.

He also announced the commencement of work on a 10km asphalt road.

The President also commissioned a 112-classroom complex for the Techiman SHS. Other ongoing projects at the school include a library complex, an assembly hall and an administration block.

Mr Mahama further directed GETFUND to complete all ongoing projects in the schools before awarding others on contract.

Addressing the chiefs and people of Abease, Mr Mahama said, “The most important asset one can bequeath anyone is education. So when you take a look at Techiman, there are infrastructural projects across the various schools in the region. We are building dormitories and other facilities to improve teaching and learning. Techiman was not left out in the distribution of community senior day schools. I know access to water is a big challenge in Techiman, owing to the obsolete nature of the water system. So, an expansion process is currently underway to improve access to water. The electrification project has also seen about 40 beneficiary communities. Almost 400km of roads are also being constructed.”

President Mahama, while interacting with traders at the Techiman market, promised them an ultra-modern market and added that he had directed that the project should be incorporated into the NDC's 2016 Manifesto.
