Praia (Cape Verde) (AFP) - Cape Verde's main opposition party won an absolute majority in general elections held on Sunday, according to results with 90 percent of votes counted, ousting the ruling PAICV party after 15 years in power.
The head of the PAICV, Janira Hopffer Almada, conceded defeat after the count showed the liberal opposition MPD party, led by former mayor Ulisses Correia e Silva, took more than 53 percent of the vote.
