Liberians commend Ghanaian hospitality

Gomoa-Buduaburam (C/R), Dec. 25, GNA - Ghanaians have been commended for their show of love, fellow feeling, co-operation, and understanding towards the Liberians.

'This spirit of brotherliness has really made the Liberians to continue to live in Ghana feeling at home,' speakers at a special end-of-year durbar organised by leaders of Liberia Lofa County Residents Association in Ghana, made the commendation at Gomoa Buduburam Refugees Camp.

According to the speakers, the special humanitarian gesture accorded the Liberians since the camp was created decades ago, has thought them a great lesson.

'These natural qualities, which majority of Liberian citizens, who have already returned home derived from Ghanaians, is really playing a key role in the rebuilding efforts put up by their brothers and sisters at home,' they said.

'We are very thankful to the Almighty God for leading us to a peaceful country like Ghana when our home country was torn apart by civil war. Current and future generations of Liberia would never forget what Ghana has done for her sister African Country, Liberia.'

Dr Tambaa Cebianor, President of Lofa County Residents Association in Ghana in his keynote address, said the end-of- year get-together was aimed at bringing all Liberian nationals in the country together.

Dr Cebianor, a Medical Officer working at Gomoa-Fetteh Village of Hope Orphanage Hospital, expressed optimism that when Liberians come together they would be able to make meaningful contributions towards the socio-economic, cultural, religious, and political development of Liberia.

He advised Liberians living in Ghana to put the past behind them and learn to foster unity among themselves because in unison a lot could be achieved.

He expressed the need for Liberians to obey the laws governing the country and learn to participate in all self-help activities, especially clean up exercises initiated by chiefs and assembly members in the communities in which they reside.

The organisers of the durbar presented a certificate of appreciation to Nana Ama Amafoah, Adontenhemaa of Gomoa-Fetteh.

Nana Amafoah expressed gratitude to the organisers for the honour done her and assured Liberians in the area of her administration's continued co-operation to ensure peace, stability and progress in the area.

The durbar was climaxed with a cultural display by the various Liberian counties resident at the Bubduburam Refugees Camp.
