Sacked ADB Workers In Court Over Dismissal

Two management staff of Agricultural Development Bank (adb) who were recently sacked, have dragged the bank to court over their dismissal.

The bank, which last month sacked the two together with 13 others, said their dismissals were executed because their services were no longer needed.

Earlier, 10 other workers in a class action, also sued the bank for being dismissed. Information available to Citi Business News indicates that one of the two sacked management staff taking the legal action is  Iddrisu Abdul - Samed, who was an Executive Director of the bank and also doubled as the Deputy Managing Director.

It is unclear how much he is seeking in damages in his suit.

However, the 10 dismissed staff who filed their case at the industrial and Labour Division of an Accra High Court, are challenging their dismissals and demanding for compensation of a seven year gross salary, the bank to write off completely loans advanced to them from the date of their dismissal, as well as  150,000 cedis per person and an apology letter signed by the Managing Director of the bank, Stephen Kpordzi within 14 days from the day of judgment.

They also want the court to restrain adb from having access to their bank accounts.
