Chocho Industry and National Theater honor Super O.D

Agona Swedru(C/R), Nov. 25, GNA - The Chocho Group of Companies in collaboration with the National Theater Limited has honored Super O.D, the popular TV and radio star for his illustrious role in the Ghanaian arts industry.

He received 2,000 Ghana Cedis and Kings Kente Cloth donated by the Chocho of Group Companies.

Super OD, who was formerly of the Osofo Dadzie group, was also officially invited to be Guest of Honor at the Chocho Concert party to be held at Suhum, in the Eastern Region on 15th, December, 2015.

Alhaji Dr Nana Oti Boateng, Managing Director (MD) of Chocho Group of Companies, said the decision to honour the exemplary artiste was to ensure that Ghanaian artistes who performed sterling roles in diverse ways to sustain film industry and concert parties are remembered before they died.

He described Super OD as a wonderful and impressive actor and concert performer who would not be forgotten in the Ghanaian society.

Super O. D known private life as Mr Asonaba Kweku Darko, would become an octogenarian on 12th January, 2016; and has featured many films and concert groups beginning from the 1970s.

The MD accompanied by his Wife, Hajia Jaamila Boateng, said Super O.D performance on TV and radio, helped many Ghanaians to ease their stress and other psychological related issues.

Alhaji Dr Nana Oti Boateng, who is also Nkosuohene of Akyem Kwarbeng, said apart from the laughter generated through his unique style, Super OD's educative programmes had helped to transform the lives of many.

According to MD the people of Ghana would forever remember him for his selfless and dedicated duty that lifted artistic performance on both the local and international scene.

Mrs Amy Appiah Frempong, Director of National Theater, said Super OD deserves more prestigious awards for his role in the artistic work.

She said the National Theater has opened its doors to collaborate with any group of concert party and actors and actresses to work as a team to entertain Ghanaians, especially at weekends.

Super OD, on his part, thanked the CHOCHO Group Companies and National Theater for the honor done and asked others to emulate their shining example.

He said many of the other members of Osofo Dadzie group are old and are going through various problems adding that similar assistance be given to them too.
