Girl, 6, Murdered In Sunyani

A six-year-old girl by name Ama Dora, who went missing last Saturday afternoon, was found dead in an uncompleted manhole at Old Abesim near Penkwase, a suburb of Sunyani in the Brong-Ahafo Region.

A team of personnel from the Municipal Police Station and an assembly man from the area, who were led by the crime officer, ASP Kinsley Wiredu, retrieved the naked body of Dora from the manhole near a school called Infant Jesus.

The dead body, which was slightly covered with sand, had beside it digging implements like shovel and a pick axe.

The police suspected foul play, though no part of the body was missing. The almost decomposed body had been sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi for pathological test to determine cause of death.

As the body was being retrieved, the mother, Mami Lee and relatives broke down in tears uncontrollably. According to the police, Mami Lee left the child behind and went to the farm for some foodstuffs and that on her return home, the daughter was nowhere to be found.

The law enforcers therefore advised mothers to be careful the way they handle their toddlers and also mindful of those they leave their children with when they are going out of the house.

Meanwhile, investigation continues.
