At Peace With God

2 CORINTHIANS 5:18 (EASY TO READ VERSION)

ALL THIS IS FROM GOD. THROUGH CHRIST, GOD MADE PEACE BETWEEN HIMSELF AND US. AND GOD GAVE US THE WORK OF BRINGING PEOPLE INTO PEACE WITH HIM.

In the verse above, we see that God has made peace with his people. How did God make peace with us? Bible says FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHOULD NOT PERISH, BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE. JOHN 3:16.

So you see God made peace with the world by sending Jesus, so we believe in Him. I believe you believe in Jesus and you have accepted him as the Lord of your life. If you haven’t, please accept him now. If you have accepted him then you are at peace with God.

Now if we are at peace with God through Christ Jesus what should we do? Some people are sleeping, others are eating and others are also playing about. If you study the scripture carefully you will notice that GOD MADE PEACE BETWEEN HIMSELF AND US THROUGH CHRIST JESUS and then it says God gave us something; THE WORK OF BRINGING PEOPLE INTO PEACE WITH HIM. This ‘work’ we see in this version is translated as ‘ministry’. That means God has GIVEN US THE MINISTRY OF BRINGING PEOPLE INTO PEACE WITH HIM.

Therefore the work of a Christian should be about ministry. Am not saying it’s wrong to be a banker or a doctor or an accountant or a lawyer or any of the other professions but what am saying is your MAIN FOCUS ON EARTH SHOULD BE ABOUT THE WORK GOD GAVE US. If only you have been reconciled or made peace with God THROUGH CHRIST JESUS then you have been given this work.

Many times we hear Christians saying I am not called so I can’t preach, I can’t go for evangelism. So I asked myself this question WHO IS CALLED INTO MINISTRY? Now am going to quote our opening verse in the KING JAMES VERSION

2 Cor. 5:18(KJV)

AND ALL THINGS ARE OF GOD, WHO HATH RECONCILED US TO HIMSELF BY JESUS CHRIST, AND HATH GIVEN TO US THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION.

From this we see that the people who are called into ministry are the people who … through CHRIST were reconciled with GOD. Now if you became a friend of God through Christ then you have been called into ministry. God hath reconciled us… who are the us( you and i) … and hath given us ( you and i) the ministry of reconciling/bringing people into peace with GOD.

When Jesus said in MATT.28:19 that “GO AND MAKE FOLLOWERS OF ALL PEOPLE IN THE WORLD…” he was not talking to the 12 apostles but to all who through him has been reconciled with the Father. Apostle Paul was not there when Jesus said this but he worked more than all the Apostles. What am I driving at? The ministry is for all who have been reconciled to God through Jesus Christ.

By now you will be thinking what of Pastors, Apostles, Evangelist, Prophets among others. I am not telling you to be a pastor or an evangelist or an apostle or a prophet. What am saying is you are a Christian and you have a work to do. Don’t forget your pastor is a Christian just like you are. Let’s see something in the bible.

1 Cor. 12:12-31( I will start from verse 27)

(27) ALL OF YOU TOGETHER ARE THE BODY OF CHRIST. EACHONE OF YOU IS A PART OF THAT BODY (28) AND IN THE CHURCH* GOD HAS GIVEN FIRST APOSTLES*, SECOND TO PROPHETS*, AND THIRD TO TEACHERS*. THEN GOD HAS GIVEN A PLACE TO THOSE WHO DO MIRACLES*, THOSE WHO HAVE GIFTS OF HEALING*, THOSE WHO CAN HELP OTHERS*, THOSE WHO ARE ABLE TO LEAD*, AND THOSE WHO CAN SPEAK IN DIFFERENT KINDS OF LANGUAGES*(29) NOT ALL ARE APOSTLES, NOT ALL ARE TEACHERS, NOT ALL ARE PROPHETS, NOT ALL WORK MIRACLES. (30) NOT ALL HAVE THE GIFTS OF HEALING, NOT ALL SPEAK IN DIFFERENT LANGUAGES, And NOT ALL INTERPRET THOSE LANGUAGES. (31)CONTINUE TO GIVE YOUR ATTENTION TO THE SPIRITUAL GIFTS YOU CONSIDER TO BE GREATEST.BUT NOW I WANT TO POINT OUT A WAY OF LIFE THAT IS EVEN GREATER.

PRAISE THE LORD. If you study this scripture you will realize that all these are gifts to the CHURCH. Apostles, Pastors, Teachers, Evangelist…. They are all gifts for the ministry. So they are called ministry gifts. Not everyone is having this ministry gifts but everyone (who hath been reconciled to God through Jesus) is a minister. KOBY IF AM A MINISTER WHY DO I GO TO CHURCH? My dear you go to church so that you leader with the ministry gifts can teach you how to go about your ministry. Jesus said go into the world and preach the Gospel in the world (not in the church). So you go to church to learn the word of God so you proclaim it to the world.

Your pastor is a Christian and he is having the pastoral gift. Don’t think you are not a pastor so you won’t preach or teach the word. Preaching the Gospel is our responsibility. Apostle Paul said he was proud of the gospel and he demonstrated it by preaching the gospel everywhere. He preached everywhere he found himself including the prison.

He was arrested for preaching the gospel and they took him to prison. He just thank God and said this is an opportunity to preach. If you are proud of something no matter where you find yourself you will show it, even to strangers. But if you are ashamed of something you hide it. If you are proud of Jesus then go out into the world and preach the GOSPEL he gave you. ARE YOU STILL SITTING GET UP AND START WINNING SOUL FOR CHRIST.
