NOV 5, 2015 LISTEN

A 29-year-old man was murdered by unidentified persons at Abossey Okai, a suburb of Accra, early yesterday morning.

The deceased, yet to be identified, was discovered hanging in front of an abandoned kiosk at Abossey Okai near Central Furniture, opposite the Mataheko Plaza.

The killers deliberately hanged the deceased to create the impression that it was suicide.

Honorable Dennis Acheampong, the Assembly Member of the area, told DAILY GUIDE at the scene that the body of the deceased was discovered around 5am yesterday by residents of the area.

He said the police were immediately informed since the deceased was not known in the area.

“We doubt that the deceased committed suicide by hanging since the rope and wood on which he hanged were not that strong,” he added.

Meanwhile, Superintendent Francis Somian, the Kaneshie District Police Commander, who was at the scene with his team of investigators, said he suspected foul play.

He said there was nothing on the deceased to prove that he hanged himself since both feet were on the ground while the rope used was so short.

“A person who commits suicide often has his tongue out with foam in the mouth but with this man, there was nothing of that sort,” Superintendent Somian noted.

He added that the killers deliberately hanged the man to cover their act.

A mobile phone and a voter identity card with name, Ninkpe Bilyuun, were found in his pocket upon a search by the police.

Superintendent Somian called on residents with information that would lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact the Kaneshie police.

The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the police hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
