Kenya's Biwott wins New York Marathon

New York (AFP) - Kenyan Stanley Biwott won the New York Marathon on Sunday, capturing his first major marathon victory in 2hr 10min 34sec.

Kenyan Geoffrey Kamworor was second and Ethiopian Lelisa Desisa third.

Defending champion Wilson Kipsang was fourth.

In the wome's race, Kenya's Mary Keitany won for the second straight year in an unofficial time of 2hr 24min 25sec.

Ethiopia's Aselefech Mergia was second in 2:25:32 and Ethiopian Tigist Tufa third in 2:25:50.

Keitana became the eighth woman to win multiple titles on the streets of the Big Apple.
