The greatest tragedy to befall a person is to have sight but lack vision.-Helen Keller

Vision is key to achievement. Great men and women who lived with a difference or made a mark in this world had visions. Most organizations that succeeded had well -crafted vision statements, mission statement and values.

Vision is a thing of the future. It is your picture of the future. What do you want to be, do or have ten years from now? Your vision will indicate what you want the most out of life. With vision you can organize your life very well to achieve results. Vision leads to success and happiness.

When casting a vision, it is not our eyes that we use but our imagination. The great Albert Einstein once quipped, “Imagination is more important than knowledge”. The human mind is a machine for creating ideas. Napoleon Hill an accomplished writer and successful industrialist once noted: “What the human mind can conceive and believe, can be achieved.” This means whatever we can imagine can become a reality through focused and sustained effort.

Vision is a compass
As indicated earlier vision is a tool of achievers. It helps individuals and corporate entities to marshal their resources and channel same towards the achievement of their desired future. Friend a compass forms part of the life of a sailor; it guides the sailor to reach his desired destination without much difficulty. A vision is like a compass to the achievement-oriented person; it gives confidence and empowers the person to work towards the realization of the ideal future or desired end state.

Everybody who desires to become great must have a vision. If you want to live a meaningful life and positively impact your generation and generations to come, cast a vision. In Prov. 29:18 King Solomon said, “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” What this means is that there will be no achievement without vision. When you have a vision, you can set goals to work on and live your life purpose. In the absence of a well-articulated vision, the lot of the individual or company will be chaos and confusion which will militate against successful achievement.

When you capture a vision, there are certain things you are required to do to give the vision its significance.

Write the vision
In Habakkuk 2:2 the word of God says, “And the Lord answered me, and said, “Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie; though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.”

God commands us to write the vision. This is very important. When you do not write the vision, it will eventually fizzle out or die naturally as you procrastinate. When you write your vision and describe it in details, it becomes your working document. Writing it down will get you committed. You will have reasons to work on it.

We are also admonished to make our vision plain and readable to others. You should be able to articulate your vision in a manner that will get people to embrace it. You must work with and through people to achieve the vision. They must believe that the success of the vision is their success.

Articulate the vision
In his book “The Power of Vision” George Barna said, “A mark of a great leader is the ability, not only to capture the vision, but also to articulate it and to cause people to fully embrace it. Because vision concerns action it is imperative that the vision be cast in such a way that people understand and can respond to it. Vision is not to be jealously guarded, a perspective to be protected. For the vision to have impact it must be a shared vision.” Vision requires that you work with like-minded people to turn it into reality. You are therefore required to articulate and share the vision.

The scriptures tell us a vision cannot be achieved instantly. There is a period of waiting. As you work on your plans towards vision accomplishment, you have to be patient and remain faithful. Your vision will become a reality with persistence and sustained staying power.

Vision creates goals
There is power in a vision. Vision creates goals. Goals are the offshoot of the vision. Goals are the things we intensely desire to achieve. When you take the necessary steps that lead to goal accomplishment, the vision will eventually be achieved. Make sure to set goals that resonate with your heart. The goals should inspire and empower you and those around you. Work with an eye single on achieving set objectives that will turn vision into reality.

The goals you set must be realistic, achievable, measurable, and time bound. You need to monitor activities to ensure that you’re on track.

Vision requires a master plan
It is not enough to set goals; you also need a robust plan. The plan should detail the steps needed to achieve the goal and vision. The plan should take into account the resources available. The formulation of a plan is one thing, its execution is quite another. When it comes to execution, people must give their all. They must work diligently and with solid commitment and dedication. Your plan must be flexible. Fine tune your plan as you get along. When you make mistakes, learn from the experience and move on.

Vision needs diligence and persistence
A visionary person will not give up because of obstacles. His persistent attitude will not permit him to accept defeat. Obstacles are seen as stepping stones to achievement. They know that every dark cloud has a silver lining. When our expectations are high and we have an optimistic attitude, we will overcome defeat and achieve success.

Vision brings provision
The attainment of a vision can make one an outstanding person in society. It can make an individual or company rich. There will be provision for you if many people benefit from your vision. Friend vision is what has made Aliko Dangote of Nigeria the richest man in Africa. Bill Gates has become the richest man in the world because of vision.

Conclusion
In conclusion, vision is your aspiration, it is your expectation, and it is your picture of the future, how to get there, and what impact you will make when you get there. Your vision should inspire you to set goals to achieve it. Get a master plan for your vision. Share the vision and work with and through people to make things happen. Be focused and diligent in working on the plan until it becomes a reality. Obstacles will emerge but don’t give up. Be ferociously persistent and you will succeed. Vision brings wealth and recognition. The wealth, riches and success chalked by great men and women can be attributed to their visions. Cast a vision and become a world changer.
