Media invitation for 84th INTERPOL General Assembly in Rwanda

The theme of the 84th INTERPOL General Assembly which will take place in Kigali, Rwanda from 2 — 5 November is 'INTERPOL 2020: Policing global threats in a dynamic environment'.

Police chiefs and other senior law enforcement officials from around the world will gather at the event to discuss a range of policing and security issues including foreign terrorist fighters, border security, cybercrime, drug trafficking, corruption and asset recovery.

The official opening ceremony and speeches by senior INTERPOL and Rwandan officials will take place at 10 am on Monday 2 November and are open to the media. This will be immediately followed by a press conference.

The conference proceedings are closed to the media, however press briefings on a range of subjects will be held on Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 November. Interviews with police officials and international delegates may also be arranged upon request. The closing ceremony is also open to the media and will be held at 12pm on Thursday 5 November. Journalists wishing to cover this event should apply for accreditation no later than Wednesday 28 October by sending the completed application form and photos to the Rwandan National Police communications office, e- mail: [email protected].

Journalists without accreditation will not be granted access, and all accredited media representatives will be expected to present their press credentials and national identification documents at the media registration desk upon arrival.
