289 recruits of the Air Force Recruits Course 1/2015 have passed out on Friday October 9, after six months intensive military training at the Takoradi Air Force Base.

Reviewing the parade, Wing Commander Francis William Quayson(Rtd), a former Officer of the Flight Training School at the Airforce Station in Takoradi cautioned military personnel against negative attitudes that could bring them into conflict with the civil society and the law.

'I urge you to eschew unprofessional attitudes like unsolicited police duties, land guarding, posing as debt collectors and other activities that might tarnish the image of the noble profession you have chosen.'

292 young men and women initially assembled at the Takoradi Air Force Base to start the training and career in the Ghana Air Force. However, three of them could not make it on medical and disciplinary grounds.

The Reviewing Officer asked the recruits not to rest on their oars but be active players in the journey to the realization of the vision and mission of the Ghana Air Force and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) as a whole.

'You are joining a service which has won the trust and confidence of the citizenry through civil-military relationship therefore be loyal to command at all times and work diligently to gain the confidence and trust of all,' he added.

He warned the recruits that the High Command of the Ghana Air Force would not gloss over any act of misconduct aimed at tarnishing the image of the Ghana Air Force. Perpetrators, he added, would answer individually when caught.

He reminded them that training in the Armed Forces is a continuous and uninterrupted activity adding 'this is just the foundation, the training will recommence the very first day you report for duty at your various Bases' He charged them to be focused at all times to defend the country.

'The Armed Forces is a neutral body mandated to defend the constitution of the Republic of Ghana and not the interest of any section or group of individuals. You are therefore to remain neutral in all your dealings with the public', he cautioned them.

The Ghana Air Force Band provided melodious tunes while the recruits proudly marched in slow and quick time to show how successfully they had met the benchmark that guaranteed them a career in the Ghana Air Force and GAF as a whole.

Group Captain FA Asante, Commander of Takoradi Air Force Base administered the Administrative Oath to the recruits.

The overall best recruit award was presented to Recruit Adzadu Senam, who was also the parade commander, while Recruit Teye-Kau Evans Jacob Lawer won the award for the best in field craft and tactics.

Other award winners were Recruit Opoku Alex, best in weapon training, Recruit Iye Joana Annaamine, best in academics and Recruit Donkor Joseph, best in drill.
