The media tour of the facility at the Twellium Industrial Company Limited the producer of Rush Energy Drink reveals that the product is completely manufactured in Ghana.

This follows earlier reports doing the rounds on social media that the Rush Energy Drink is contaminated with poisonous chemicals making it unsafe for human consumption.

Some section of the media took their turn at the Twellium Company, as it where, to inspect, verify and report on the company’s activities.

Management To Pursue Perpetrators
Addressing the media, management of Twellium Industrial Company has vowed to pursue the perpetrators behind the alleged reports seeking to tarnish the company’s image in the eye of the public.

The General Manager of the Company, Mohammed Kawtharani, on the advice by the Municipal Chief Executive [MCE] of Ga West, has agreed to lodge an official complain at the Criminal Investigate Department headquarters of the Ghana Police Service to bring the perpetrators to book.

Mr. Kawtharani however described the social media report as a hoax and “factually inaccurate and misleading.”

He explained that his outfit which has been operating for the past two years officially launched its product varieties in March 2013.

He added that the products are strictly prepared in accordance with the food safety rules and regulations with Food and Drugs Authority number FDB/14173.

According to him, their products, rush energy drink, planet range of drinks, Bubble up, American Cola and Verna Natural Mineral water are prepared under good hygienic condition with its machines imported from Europe.

The General Manager indicated that the products are franchised by Monarch Beverages Company in Atlanta United States of America [USA] which also have high standard specifications which they had to meet before it was given the license.

The Municipal Chief Executive [MCE] of Ga West, Atu Kwei Quaye said the Rush Energy Drink has taken over the beverage market adding that, “we should thrive on healthy competition” in order to maintain the credibility of companies in the industry.

“This is a company that purely produces here. Every bit of their production is local so why must anybody destroy such a company so that Ghana will lose. An Attack on a company like Twellium is an attack on the economy,” he intimated.

The MCE described the purported social media message as “wicked and preposterous.”

He advised management of Twellium to lodge an official complain at the Chamber of Commerce and the Security agencies to investigate and prosecute the perpetrators because it is a criminal act.

The Marketing Manager, Emelia Gyasi assured consumers of Rush Energy Drink and Ghanaians to keep enjoying the products because they are proudly made in Ghana with local resources and workforce.

She said the Rush Energy Drink contains ingredients such as inositol, which helps circulate fat to all parts of the body, Ginseng which also boost the immune system and the heart, and Taurine [an amino acid] that helps to prevent hypertension.

According to her, the drink contains vitamin components such as B2, B12, B5 and B8 which are healthy for human consumption.

The Human Resource Manager, Ebenezer Adjaye added that the mandate of the company not only to make money but to make a meaningful impact for the society through their Corporate Social Responsibility [CSR].

He urged the media to contact the company anytime such negative and mischievous statement comes up in the public domain.

Employment And Investment
The company has over 500 Ghanaians who are both casual and non casual workers in Accra and the sub branches in Tamale, Takoradi, Kumasi and other regions in the country.

According to General Manager, the company engages the services of more than 1000 distributors across the country hence creating job opportunities for retailers and street hawkers.

It also has an ultra modern laboratory with very well educated quality control experts.

The company is taking steps to install the first can production machine in Ghana and further expand their employee database.

The Laboratory Procedure
The management of the Twellium Company took the media round the installed facility explaining the strict laboratory processes starting from the syrup room where the beverage is prepared and stored in huge tanks.

The syrup [the prepared drink] is then transferred through laboratory pipes to the wet room also called the filler room [isolated area] which produces 26,000 plastic bottles per hour for filling.

Edward Tavu, the Quality Control Officer told the media that the wet room is strictly an isolated area in order to prevent any contact or contamination from human.

He said the final stage is the dry area where the drinks are labeled and packaged for transport to the market.
