Bekwai (Ash), Oct 08, GNA - The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Mrs. Jennifer Appiah-Bempah, has warned against the practice of aiding service personnel to receive monthly allowances for no job done.

She said that was completely unacceptable and reprehensible, adding that, everybody must work to earn whatever money they were paid.

She therefore called on heads of institution and agencies, where service personnel had been posted to make sure that they were at post and performed their assigned tasks.

Mrs. Appiah-Bempah was speaking during an orientation programme held for NSS personnel in the Bekwai Municipality at Bekwai.

She advised them to make the most of the service period to build the requisite work experience - skills and ethics, they would need to function properly wherever they might find themselves in the future.

She said it was in their own interest to work hard and with passion, telling them that, it was by so doing that they would be retained by the user agency when there was a vacancy to be filled.

She also appealed to the metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies and community leaders to assist provide accommodation for service personnel sent to areas under their jurisdiction.

That, she noted, would help to entice them to accept posting to the deprived communities.
