The Management of VIP JEOUN Company Limited, operators of VIP Transport has served notice to sue transport companies who are using the company’s trade mark without their permission.

The action comes at the back of the recent accident which occurred on the Accra –Suhum Highway involving some buses which are illegally using the VIP JEOUN Company’s registered trade mark (Red Background with ‘VIP’ written in white colors).

According to the Company, those buses which were involved in a fatal accident at kyekyewere on the Accra- Suhum Highway on Wednesday 30th September, 2015, which is believed to have claimed four lives, do NOT belong to their company, VIP JEOUN.

Addressing a press conference in Kumasi on Sunday, the Finance Director of the company, Prof. Dr. Lukemond Owusu Ansah, said that though the company expresses sympathy to families of those who died from the accident, and wishes the injured passengers speedy recovery, it would also like to, as a matter of much concern, draw the public’s attention to the fact that the said buses involved in the Kyekyewere accident, are NOT that of the VIP JEOU Company Limited, as had been reported by several media houses.

That the VIP JEOUN Company Limited in June this year (2015), issued a statement cautioning users of the company’s trade mark (Red Background with ‘VIP’ written in white colors), to refrain from using it in their transport businesses.

But the Prof. Dr. stated “it is very sad to note that despite this strong warning and contrary to the copyright law, some illegal users of the VIP JEOUN‘s trade mark continue to use it,… examples are those buses which were involved in the Kyekyewere accident that has led to the death of four people”.

The company has threatened to take legal actions against the owners of the Kyekyewere accident buses that had its trade mark on them, and has announced a combined effort of the Ghana Police Service to arrest and sue other imposter users of the VIP JEOUN Company Limited’s trade mark. These actions, the company says, would commence a day after this announcement.

The Managing Director of the VIP JEOUN Company Ltd, Mr Richard Kusi in an interview with the press indicated that the executives of the company are bent on protecting the hard earned image of the VIP JEOUN Company which has now become Ghana’s safest, reliable and accessible transport company.

Mr. Kusi has also cautioned passengers who wish to travel with the VIP JEOUN Company’s buses but accidentally fall into the hands of the illegal VIP buses, to be very vigilant since the actions the company would be taking could affect them as well.
