Readout of the Secretary-General’s meeting with H.E. Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, Minister of State, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria

The Secretary-General met today with H.E. Mr. Ramtane Lamamra, Minister of State, Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

The Secretary-General thanked Mr. Lamamra for Algeria's engagement in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. He further expressed gratitude for Algeria's leadership on climate change. Commending Algeria's role in the Malian peace process, the Secretary-General expressed concern about delays in the implementation of the peace agreement. He also expressed his gratitude for Algeria's support to UN efforts in Libya. Lastly, he thanked Algeria for its continued support to the UN-led negotiating process on Western Sahara.
