Accra, Sept. 2, GNA - The Royal Bank on Tuesday presented an electro-surgical generator machine worth GH¢ 35,000 to the neurosciences unit of the Korle Bu Teaching hospital.

An electro-surgical device is frequently used during surgical operations to help prevent blood loss in hospital operating rooms.

Dr Kwame Amoah Baah-Nuakoh, the Head of Strategic Planning, Research and Corporate Affairs, presenting the machine said the support was as a result of a request made by the unit to the Bank.

He said the Bank felt it is their moral obligation to support the unit to be able to service their patients better and effectively.

He said by the end of September, the Royal Bank Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility wing of the Bank, would adopt one of the ward's of the unit.

He expressed the hope that the machine would serve the intended purpose and save lives for national development.

Dr Patrick Bankah, a Consultant Pediatric Neurosurgeon, told the Ghana News Agency that the donation would help improve the work of the unit.

He expressed gratitude to the management of the Bank for the support, saying it would go a long way to help support bleeding during operations.

He called on corporate Ghana to come to the aid of the unit to better provide effective service to Ghanaians and its West African neighbours.
