Upper West readies for National Sports Festival

Modernghana has gathered that the Upper West regional minister Alhaji Amidu Sulemana is set to present some training items to the contingent representing the region at the National Sports festival slated for 28th August-6th September, 2015.

The presentation follows an appeal made by the team for the provision of items such as football boots, running boots and ceremonial attire for them.

According to a source at the sports Council in Wa, the minister Will present 40 football boots, 30 running boots and 300 ceremonial kits for the team and that he Will also fete the teams to an opening and closing dinner. This modernghana.com understands Will be around 21,000 cedis.

A visit to the camp of the contingent on Friday, saw the team training serious ahead of the festival.

Speaking to us in an interview, the chairman of the 2nd Cycle Sports Federation in the region Alhaji Moro Ahmed Baba said preparations are about 80% complete and that the team is set to better their performance at the last event in 2014.

Alhaji Baba however added that the team is yet to get to their peak but that he was sure they Will be fully ready by 28th August to do the region proud.

He was full of praise to the regional minister who he said donated assorted beverages and three bags of sugar to the contingent.

The Upper West region Will host this year's National Schools and Colleges Sports festival from the 28th August -6th September at the Wa Senior High School.
