Presidential Aspirant Still Incarcerated In Police Chamber

Presidential aspirant and former acting JUSTICE FORUM-(JEEMA) Secretary General, Omar Dauda Kalinge Nnyago who was arrested at Makerere University yesterday Friday the 14th of August, by police officers is still up to now under police captivity and reason for his arrest is yet to be established.

Few weeks back Kalinge resigned his party position as secretary General and declared his intention to stand as president of the Republic of Uganda come 2016 General elections.

Arrested with his young boy Ahmed, Kalinge looked relaxed but focused.

The Justice forum President Counsel Asuman Basalirwa and his Chairman Kibirige Mayanja visited Kalinge at Kawempe Police station in a move aimed at knowing the actual reason for his arrest.

When contacted for some information, the Area commander whose name was not given assured that, his station had no case with the detainee, and that it was ‘order from above’.

‘We don’t have any case with Mr Kalinge, we are just keeping him as a request from the commander of wandegeya police station’. The head of the station revealed.

The same Regional Police commander is accusing the 52 year old Engineer for ‘abusing’ him when he called him his son.

It is alleged that during the scuffle Kalinge continuously reminded the Police officer to respect him, as the former was fit enough to be his father, the thing which was interpreted to be an insult by the officer.

Kalinge Nnyago a Engineer by professional from NED University Pakistan, turned activists and politician is a long serving member of Justice Forum-(JEEMA) for over 16yrs.

Since yesterday Kalinge had not made any statement not until party chairman Kibirige Mayanja and Counsel Baslirwa went to the police station and intervened.
