Natasha Bawah
Forty-year-old Natasha Bawah, a hairdresser, has been arrested by the police for allegedly murdering her Canadian boyfriend.

The deceased, identified as Eddie Murphy Sulleymana, who was on vacation in Ghana, allegedly travelled with the lover (Natasha) to her hometown in the Upper East Region a year ago and the former has since not been found.

Natasha, according to police reports, claimed Eddie died in an accident but checks indicated that the statement was false.

She has provisionally been charged for murder and would be arraigned before court soon.

Confirming the arrest to the media, DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, Accra Regional Police Commander, said in September last year the police received a complaint from the family of Eddie Murphy Sulleymana  that he had mysteriously gone missing.

Police investigations revealed that in September 2014 Eddie came on holidays and met Natasha Bawah.

They became lovers and both resided at Sowutuom, a suburb of Accra, until Natasha travelled with him to Sandema for cattle business – a new trade she had discovered.

Since then nothing was heard about Sulleymana and efforts by the family to contact him also proved futile.

'When the family tried contacting the nephew on phone, suspect Natasha Bawah, who had the lover's mobile phone, answered it and told them that Eddie had been involved in an accident and did not want any family member to visit him,' the police indicated.

The family said it tried calling the phone again but it was switched off and nothing was heard from her (Natasha) again.

Efforts to contact her by the family also proved futile until the matter was reported to the police for investigations.

Police preliminary investigation led to the discovery of the victim's passport and other travelling documents with one Mallam Mumuni, a friend of Eddie who confessed that Eddie Murphy   was with Natasha and had not returned to Canada yet.

On August 1, 2015 police investigation led to the arrest of Natasha at her hideout at Buokrom, Kumasi.

Upon interrogation, Natasha told the police that Eddie Murphy died at the Tumu Government Hospital whilst receiving treatment from an accident on the Tumu road.

She claimed the deceased was buried on January 24, 2015, per Islamic customs, at a Muslim cemetery in Tumu.

When the Tumu Government Hospital and the Muslim community there were contacted by the police, it was revealed that there was no record of any death involving Eddie Sulleymana as alleged by the lover.

Natasha has provisionally been charged for murder after refusing to help the police locate the body of her lover.

Investigations into the matter are still ongoing but Natasha will still be in the custody of the police to assist in the probing.
