Driver And Cleaner Granted Bail In Stealing Case

A cleaner and a driver have been granted bail in the sum of GHc 6,000.00 with one surety each by the Tarkwa circuit court for siphoning diesel from dozer machine.

The accused persons, Richard Cobbinah alias Fiana and Moses Quaison both pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime and stealing.

They would re-appear before the court on 28th of August, 2015.

Prosecuting, Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr. Alex Obeng Asnte that complainant Richard Tienaa is a dozer operator working with Goldfields Ghana Limited, Tarkwa Mine.

The accused persons Richard Cobbinah is a driver whilst Moses Quaison is a cleaner and all employees of Antwisoda Sub Contract responsible for cleaning earth moving equipment at Goldfields Ghana Limited, Tarkwa mine.

He said on 16th day of July,0158, the accused person were detailed at Atuabo Waste dump within the company’s premises to clean dozer 14 which the complainant has packed and left for lunch.

The complainant returned to the machine and met the accused persons siphoning diesel from the machine into a yellow Jerican.

Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah said when the complainant confronted them to that effect; they couldn’t give any tangible reason.

The complainant reported the matter to his supervisor one Reiben who also informed Goldfields Security personnel and they proceeded to the crime scene, arrested the accused persons and handed them over to Police for investigation.

During investigations the accused persons admitted the offences in their respective caution statements.

After investigation, the accused persons were charged with the offences.
