Kojo Bonsu
KUMASI MAYOR, Kojo Bonsu, has threatened to call for the arrest of anyone caught selling plots of land to traders to transact their business at the Race Course in Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

He explained that the KMA was not charging any amount from traders before allocating spaces for them to trade at the Race Course – which is a temporary market as work at Kejetia continues.

Sounding angry, Kojo Bonsu referred to people who were alleged to be selling pieces of land to unsuspecting traders as 'saboteurs' of the KMA, vowing to cause their arrest to face the law if they didn't stop the act.

Accompanied by staffers of the KMA, the mayor gave the stern warning when he paid an unannounced working visit to the Race Course on Wednesday to ascertain how the traders were faring.

Kojo Bonsu, who was accorded a rousing welcome by the elated-looking traders, admonished them to report to the KMA any person or group of people that would try to sell plots of land to them for the law to deal with them.

'Make sure that people who come to you to collect monies for the purpose of allocating spaces are reported to the assembly,' he told the traders.

Kojo Bonsu explained that the traders were mandated to only pay the legal market tolls approved by the assembly, stressing that the KMA has the welfare and interest of the traders at heart.

He urged the traders, and for that matter, the people of Kumasi, to rally behind the KMA to develop the metropolis into a modern city.
