Mampong (Ash) July 27---Alhassan Mohammed,27,self-employed electrician at Asante Mampong is to spend the next four years in prison for stealing some electrical appliances valued GHs 2,500 property of Asante Mampong Municipal Hospital.

He pleaded guilty for unlawful entry and stealing when he appeared before Mampong District court on last Friday.

The court presided over by Mr Godwin Kpogli, sentenced him to GHs300 fine or in default six months imprisonment for unlawful entry and four years imprisonment for stealing.The sentence is to run concurrently.

Prosecuting, Chief inspector John Amponsah told the court that on July 17 this year at about 11.30 a.m. the witness in the case, Mr Ebenezer Painstil, the hospital electrician went to the hospital maintenance department y to switch on the hospital plant (generator)

The prosecution said, when the witness reached the place, he heard a noise and detected that somebody has forcibly opened the door and entered the room.

He said the witness became suspicious and searched the room only to see the suspect hiding somewhere in the room with some underground cables and other electrical appliances gathered around him

He said when the suspect was questioned what he was doing in the room, he attempted to run away but with the help of some of the hospital staff, they managed to apprehend him and handed him over to the police

The prosecution said during police investigation the suspect admitted committing the crime and he was charged with the offence and arranged before the court for trail
