His name might not quickly be made out when mentioned in comparison to industry colleagues such as DJ Champagne, DJ Black, DJ Mensah, DJ Fiifi Pratt, DJ Abrantie, Blakk Rasta, Billie Ocean, Sammy Forson or even his Citi fm counterpart DJ Armani but make no mistake about it, Mohammed Lansah popularly known as DJ Gaddafi is as formidable and thoroughbred as any of the DJ’s mentioned above.

In life certain things are inexplicable and it appears such is the fate of DJ Gadda as he simply calls himself. In football, Lionel Messi is touted as the one of the very best in football’s history, his Achilles heel however is not transforming his club exploits to the Argentinean national team and it is here that the water tight supporting cast of Xavi and Iniesta whose killer passes and gripping play allows Messi the little magician to orchestrate his spell binding moves and goals become evident.

Why the Ghana Music Awards folks and other entertainers have not tapped into such a fertile brain to host award shows as DJ Black does or engaged as personal DJ beats the mind.

He might not be celebrated but the copious dose of efficient work put in by DJ Gadda deserves mention. Gadda boasts of good music selection, he interacts with his listeners gingerly, reading their text and WhatsApp messages as well as reading out their shout-outs enabling the braggarts to have bragging rights as their names get mentioned on air.

DJ Gadda takes the pain to render to his loyal listeners the number 1 tune making the rounds across the globe including Jamaica, the US, UK, Kenya etc in addition to serving the Ghanaian top 10 tunes in his countdown.

His infectious laugh is endearing and on Friday’s, shows real emotion when he seeks the well being of the text sender e.g. ‘Kofi how are you doing’. It is a regular feature to have dedications from folks in geographically mixed zones such as Koforidua, Dansoman, Denu, Ashiaman etc.

Commencing his show on Fridays after the sports guys have concluded their ‘Donkomi’ show, DJ Gadda takes charge of the Citi ship till midnight when he safely berths the crew and passengers having served a stimulating meal of dancehall and hiplife tunes even spoiling passengers by mixing vintage hiplife tunes with contemporary ones sprinkled with talk so easy on the ears. Being the master chef that he is, Gadda knows when music ought to play and when talk is needed.

It is not for nothing that DJ Gadda has the tag line “I am your girlfriend’s favourite DJ” and “I play music but I don’t play” the man indeed know his onions.

On Saturdays assuming duty after the 4 o’clock news has been rendered, DJ Gadda commandeers the music ship once more till 6pm dishing out soothing music and lovers rock reggae from his candy bag.

Love is in abundance once more and the faithful from Koftown, Kumsai, Kantamanto, Aburi etc send well wishes to relations and friends. Gadda loves mixes and often one hears ‘let me get into the mix’ after some talk. It thus was appropriate that he got nominated in the Mixtape DJ of the year category a few moons ago.

As Mr. Lansah mentioned on one occasion, mixtapes keep him in tune with his fans and so fans await a new mixtape to be released soon. Mr. Mohammed Lansah alias DJ Gaddafi, we see your works and ask Allah and the ancestors to continue to be your shield and armor. Cheers.
