The Accra Regional police have apprehended a suspected armed robber believed to be part of the gang of six that attacked some residents of Amanfrom and robbed them of assorted items.

The suspect, identified as Abdullai Ibrahim, 26, was apprehended on July 21, 2015 at Budumburam Camp in the Central Region where he was hiding.

This adds to three the number of suspects arrested in connection with the Amanfrom robbery.

Some residents of Amanfrom near Kasoa in the Ga South Municipality were injured in a mass armed robbery incident that occurred on June 29, 2015.

The robbers, according to police reports, attacked about six houses in an operation which started around 1:30 am and ended at about 4am.

People living in areas like Galilee, American Farm and Peace Town were robbed in the operation.

Items stolen included mobile telephones, laptops and unspecified amount of money.

The robbers also inflicted machete and gun wounds on their victims before robbing them.

Earlier, police managed to apprehend two out of the six suspects linked to the robbery.

The two included Isaac Kene, 25, a Togolese and David Ahortor, a 25-year-old watchman.

The two were sentenced to 35 years' imprisonment each by an Accra circuit court presided over by Mr Francis Obiri.

DCOP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, who confirmed the arrest of Ibrahim to DAILY GUIDE, said intelligence gathered revealed that he (Abdullai Ibrahim) was among the gang of armed robbers who raided Amanfrom on June 29, 2015.

He said strenuous efforts were underway to get the remaining three culprits arrested to face the full rigours of the law.
