Beposo (Ash) July 21 – More than 700 citizens of Beposo in the Sekyere Central District of the Ashanti Region are to benefit from free National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) being sponsored by Alhaji Mohammed Amponsah, a Kumasi based businessman, and a native of Beposo.

Briefing the press, AlhajiAmponsah said initially he decided to do the insurance for the aged and the vulnerable in the town but as many people approached him with their hospital bills for financial assistance, he changed his mind and made it opened for all the citizens.

Mr. Enoch OkoOtoo, the Scheme Manager for Sekyere West District said the exercise began on last Saturday and as at Monday, 400 people has been registered and issued with the NHIS biometric cards.

He mentioned intermitted slow connectivity and unexpected number of people who keep on reporting daily for registration as the major challenge facing the exercise.

Nana BoamahKwabi IV, the paramount Chief of Beposo Traditional area praised AlhajiAmponsah for his patriotism especially for sponsoring a number of development projects in the town.

The paramount chief announced the suspension of the orders by the Traditional Council to banish goats and black dogs from the town for peace and unity to prevail.

Some of the beneficiaries of the scheme expressed their gratitude to the Alhaji and prayed for long life, prosperity and God’s blessing for him.
