Tumu (UWR), July 6, GNA - The National Sanitation Day (NSD) exercise has seen a massive turn out in Tumu, and its impact was greater than expected, Mr Edwin Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, Deputy Local Government Minister has said.

Community members in Tumu responded positively to the NSD exercise, cleaning gutters and clearing bushes around their houses amidst brass band music.

Mr Vanderpuye, thanked the people for the good work done, and urged them to continue the exercise on daily, weekly and monthly basis.

He urged the people to develop more interest in their personal and environmental hygiene to avoid the outbreak of diseases.

'We have finished cleaning up Tumu today, but there is still more work to be done. We would be helping ourselves if we continue to keep our environment clean at all times,' he said.

Mr Caesar Kale, a Presidential Staffer called on the community members to avoid playing politics with the NSD.

He urged the people to take active interest in the actions and inactions of their neighbours who are causing environmental pollution and report to the local authorities and the security agencies offenders for the law to deal with them.
