3 Tips For A Healthier Ramadan Fasting

Religion 3 Tips For A Healthier Ramadan Fasting
JUN 19, 2015 LISTEN

Ramadan 2015 is now upon us, and we all need to be prepared. Health-wise, here are 3 tips to get you on the best start to another wonderful Ramadan period. Some of the suggestions in the post may need you to do some Ramadan shopping online on a site like Kaymu that delivers to your home.

Don't Skip Breakfast
We know it might hard for you to have to wake up so early in the morning to eat breakfast, but you should keep in mind that whatever you do, don't skip breakfast. Remember that you still have as much as 12 hours to go without eating food or drinking water; the best thing to do would be wake up and take the day by the horns. That's hardly possible with an empty stomach.

Break Light
So it's time for Iftar. You're grateful for completing a full day's fast in good health. And now you're hungry. Really hungry. You feel the need to eat a lot of food.No problem. But remember to break your fast with a light food before you go heavy. Sweet fruits like dates are ideal because they are light and contain carbohydrates that don't stress your body to digest. Because dates are sweet, there's always a tendency for you to want to do more of them than necessary. Take no more than 2-3, then move on to a glass of water, and then your main meal.

Take Enough Rest, Sleep Early
If you want a longer night, sleep early. Ramadan is a moment to reflect. It's therefore important to rearrange your priorities to make enough time to rest and to reflect with your family. Target up to eight hours of sleep a day and make sure to do so under comfortable circumstances.

Happy fasting!
