Essikado (W/R), June 13, GNA - Mr Joe Ghartey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Essikado-Ketan in the Western Region, has donated 1,046 pieces of mathematical instruments to 31 schools in the constituency, writing the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).

Mr Ghartey told reporters that education continue to be the bedrock for development and is therefore imperative that students are empowered at the basic level to make the right choices in advancing the growth and development of the human resource base of the country.

He said he has instituted the overall best student and best female student scholarship awards and the beneficiaries would be assisted throughout their three-year senior high education.

The MP said his office is in closer collaboration with the Metropolitan Office of Education to find innovative means of improving teaching and learning particularly in the constituency to raise the level of education in the area.

Mr Franklin Dzigbede, Metropolitan Education Director said special package such as regional and metropolitan awards have been put together in order to honour teachers who selflessly contribute to the human resource base of the country.
