Tarkwa District Magistrate Court has granted bail in the sum GHz 15,000.00 with two sureties each to Security man and a forklift operator for allegedly conspired to steal 7 meters Armor, 3 core cable and conveyer belt all value at GHz 9,422.00 the properties of Ghana Manganese Company, Tarkwa Nsuta.

The accused persons, Mohammed Hussain and Ali Osman both pleaded not guilty to conspiracy and stealing and would re- appear before the court on Monday June 15.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Faustina .S . Anaman, told the court presided over by His worship Mr. Jonathan Nunoo, that the complainant Oswald Sagraza is the coordinator of Ghana Manganese Company, Nsuta near Tarkwa.

The accused Mohammed Hussein is working with EPMM a private security company under Ghana Manganese Company as a permanent day guard and stays at Nsuta Zongo whilst Ali Osman is also working with the Ghana Manganese Company as a forklift operator and stays at the company’s quarters BLK 20 at Nsuta.

Both accused persons are Muslims and they got to known each other for almost a year now.

Inspector Faustina .S. Anaman narrated to the court that on Friday 15th May this year, during the day, Ali Osman approached Mohammed Hussein at his duty point and disclosed a cable deal he intends to enter into with him. Mohammed Hussein and Ali osman therefore hatched a plan to stealing some of the company’s cables and conveyer belt since Ali Osman have access to it. Mohammed Hussein also agrees that when the items are brought by Ali Osman it will be kept at his duty point.

Again, on 20thMay this year, Ali Osman approached Mohammed Hussein at his duty point and collected his phone number and assured him of calling him when he is bringing the items during break time to ascertain whether the vicinity is free and calm for movement without being noticed by other workers.

Inspector Anaman said on that same day, at about 12:00 noon Ali Osman duly brought the items as listed earlier with the forklift machine he operates in the Mine, to Mohammed Hussein duty point and same was kept in a container under his care and locked it up.

She said, on 21th May, as both accused persons had earlier on agreed that Mohammed Hussein is to find a friend security at the main gate to help them get the items out from the company’s premises.

Ali called one Romeo also a security and a friend on his phone to assist him gets the items out of the premises. The said Romeo also feigned interest in the deal and proceeded to the place where the items had been kept with a colleague officer and both Mohammed Hussein and the items were conveyed into a Van they went with and drove straight to the complainant’s office and further to the Police Station and complaint was lodged.

Police Inspector Anaman said Mohammed Hussein was instantly arrested whilst Ali Osman was also arrested later after his name was mentioned by Mohammed Hussein

They were charged with the offence after investigation and arraigned before court
