
Dormaa - Ahenkro (B/A), June 8, GNA - A farmer, Atta Kofi, 30, died on the spot when a Daewoo Tico vehicle with registration number BA 1729 Z knocked him down along the Dormaa-Kyeremasu road in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
The driver, Daniel Sabi, 48, who was driving towards the direction of Kyeremasu from Dormaa-Ahenkro escaped unhurt but later reported himself to the Police at Dormaa-Ahenkro.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency at Dormaa-Ahenkro, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Mr. Mahmudu Yusif, who is the Dormaa Municipal Police Commander, said the incident occurred on Thursday April 30 around 1600hours when the driver was on his way to a poultry farm to pick eggs.
DSP Yusif said the deceased was heading home from his farm on a bicycle in the direction of Kyeremasu when the vehicle knocked him down.
He said the Police rushed to the spot of the accident and found the deceased and the vehicle which had veered off the road into the bush at the opposite side.
The Municipal Police Commander said the vehicle has been impounded while the driver has been detained to assist the Police in investigations.
