Headlines Fresh Clashes Recorded At NPP Headquarters...Afoko Loyalists Showdown With Invincible Forces
MAY 28, 2015 LISTEN

Reports reaching tv3network.com says fighting has erupted between security personnel at the New Patriotic Party's head office and alleged supporters of National Chairman, Paul Afoko.

Two persons were severely injured when the clash erupted. The alleged supporters of the National Chairman numbering about 25,went to the party office but were prevented from entering the offices.

According to reports, they were prevented by the security personnel known as 'Invisible Forces', wielding machetes and clubs. They are believed to have stormed the party head office to protest what they claim are attempts to remove the National Chairman, Paul Afoko from office.

Police officers have arrived at the scene to calm the situation. This recent clash follows a series of activities that have dragged the NPP into the bad light.

There is a growing consensus across the country within the leadership of the NPP for the National Chairman, Paul Afoko and General Secretary, Kwabena Agyepong to resign their posts.

These calls followed the death of the party's Upper East Regional Chairman, Adams Mahama who was assaulted with acid and died hours after. This created an uproar within the party with regional executives calling for the two men in question to 'step aside' for investigations to proceed.

The National Council of Elders have also joined the calls for the two to step aside but they (Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agepong) have downplayed the calls with the General Secretary insisting that he would stay in office until his tenure runs out in 2018.

The fluid situation within the NPP seems to develop a new angle everyday with the latest being the renewed clashes at the party's head office.
