MAY 25, 2015 LISTEN

The Asogli Thermal Plant at Kpone near Tema has shut down completely following a cut in gas supply from Nigeria.

Sources says the development has led to the loss of 90 megawatts of electricity.

Meanwhile, TICO has moved from 170MW to 210MW.
Last Friday, staff of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation laid down their tools over some policy decisions.

Nigeria was supposed to send 123 million cubic feet of gas to Ghana but it is only able to supply around 49 cubic feet of gas.

The workers are against the transfer of the operatorship of OML 42 from Shell to Neconde Energy Ltd.

The strike, coupled with other factors, have resulted in fuel shortage in Africa's largest economy with its rippling effect hitting Ghana.

Currently, Ghana's Atuabo Gas plant is supplying an average of 70 million standard cubic feet of gas per day which is being used to power the plants in the Aboadze Enclave.
