Accra, May 21, GNA - Daffodlis Games and Publishing Limited, a Ghanaian owned game development and publishing company, has launched a new educational game called the Dafffodlis GP Basic Schools Bonanza games and competition to educate students.

The games and competition is a flagship entertaining, challenging and educational gaming experience aimed at promoting the memorisation of mathematics concepts to sharpen the minds of basic students in the process.

Speaking at the media launch, Mr John Aggrey, member of the Public Relations and Marketing Team, Daffodlis Games and Publishing (GP), Greater Accra, said the focus of the company is to create high-quality, entertaining and learning experience through board card and online game products.

'At Daffodlis GP, we strive to create entertaining, challenging and educational gaming experience for everyone.

'That is why we are offering a challenging and educational learning experience for these young minds using BONANAZA card game,' he said.

Mr Aggrey said a 'learning experience' would be achieved through the practical 'smart play' competitions dubbed: 'BONANZA School Challenge,' which would serve as an added advantage for both educational purposes and classroom learning.

He said Mathematics is seen by many as hard, boring or both, but evidence suggests that a love for the subject is no barrier to fun and humour adding, 'from home, to school, to work and places in between, Maths is everywhere'.

Ms Masha Bashiru, Member of the Public Relation and Marketing Team, Daffodlis GP, Greater Accra, asked stakeholders to make mathematics practical and endearing to all and thereby lead to the development of new teaching and learning practices.

She said the Bonanza School Challenge (BSC) slated for August 1, is on the theme: 'The importance of educational games and how they develop brain creativity,' and would be an annual competition to stimulate mental skills and the love for mathematics among students in basic schools in more exciting ways.

'This is the product that will be used for the competition where students will compete as teams at the intra and inter-school levels with the Bonanza Game Cards and winners will meet to battle the final five on August 1,' she said.

She said in BSC, students would sharpen their arithmetic, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Mr Michael Nsowah, Former Director General, Ghana Education Service, lauded Daffodlis GP for the effort that aims at improving quality education, and making mathematics a fun game for the youth.

He called for a strong partnership between education stakeholders and Daffodlis GP to help make mathematics, science and other subjects enjoyable and not boring for students.
