Tarkwa (W/R), May 3, GNA - Members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, Historic Adventist Church, Church of God and Living Testimony for Jesus Bible Ministry, have organised a two-hour clean-up exercise at the Tarkwa Community Centre.

The members swept the surroundings of the Tarkwa Community Centre and cleared the area of weeds and plastic waste.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Isaiah Geni, who supervised the exercise said it was meant to encourage the public to take part in the National Sanitation Day exercise as their social responsibility.

Mr Geni said the Church supports its member to observe personal and environmental hygiene and called on individuals to keep their immediate surroundings clean.

Mr Isaac Owusu, Organiser of the programme, commended the Environmental Department of the Tarkwa Nsueam Municipal Assembly for providing them with cutlasses, rakes, wheel barrow and other logistics for the exercise.

He appealed to the people to desist from defecating in the open and to put their refuse in approved containers for collection and disposal by environmental workers.
