Accra, May 2, GNA - The Global Evangelical Church (GEC) has congratulated Ghanaian workers for their relentless sacrifices that has developed the nation.

Right Reverend Dr Edem Tettey, Moderator of GEC, in a statement issued in Accra to mark May Day and copied to Ghana News Agency said it is necessary to celebrate workers since they remain the hard working citizens whose blood and toil cultivate the land and its waters to feed the people.

He said it is the same people whose mental and physical energies are spent in various industries to generate income for survival and development.

'Our dreams for a prosperous nation flowing with 'milk and honey' may not yet be in sight, but we have hope for a better tomorrow because we live in a blessed nation.

'Let us take pride in what we produce and intentionally put them at the top of our shopping lists. Our products may not be the best in the world but they are very good,' he said.

Rt Rev Tettey appealed to employers to give respect to the Ghanaian worker and treat him or her fairly especially in terms of remuneration.

He advised workers to desist from destructive habits such as idleness and mediocrity, which are detrimental to productivity and pursue timeless values such as truth, honesty, excellence, punctuality and hard work which have made institutions, organisations and developed countries great. GNA
