Nothing Is Perfect!

Nothing Is Perfect!
02.05.2015 LISTEN

We live in an imperfect world. There is no perfection. There is no perfect school. There is no perfect job, perfect company, perfect workmates or perfect boss. There is no perfect neighbourhood. There is no perfect family. Show me a perfect spouse or perfect children or perfect parents. There is no perfect government or a perfect leader. There is no perfect car or perfect phone. There is no perfect dress code or perfect food or perfect health. There is no perfect church or perfect pastor. Even you, are not perfect. The sooner you accept that the better!

And by the way what is perfect to you, may not be perfect to the next person!

It’s okay not to be perfect
Although it seems flawed and insufficient, everything about you is alright; your looks, job, family, qualifications, salary etc. Actually everything is okay! It’s okay to have a wife who is a bit naggy or a husband who watches too much TV and sometimes comes home late. It’s okay if your children at times let you down or you have a weird looking neighbour. It’s okay when at times you are mistreated or discriminated or when they gossip about you. It is okay when prices go up and at times you lose a job. God brought you here. He brought you here for a purpose. You have to accept and believe this first before you can see the reason behind it. The earlier you accept your circumstances, the easier it is to take advantage of the opportunities around you and change things.

At most times the change we really need is not out there but is within us.

Accept it and move on
Whining, blaming and grumbling will not change things. Seek your role in the current situation. You may not like it, but it will not go away. Seek to cooperate with God, instead of rebelling.

God’s power is clearer in imperfect situations. When we are weak he is strong. That’s why the Bible says ‘all things work together for good.’ God’s will is not to make things around you perfect, but for you in imperfect circumstances, to trust in a perfect God.

You may have done wrongs things in your life, really ugly horrible things. But the moment you are in Christ, the path of your future is an automatic re-route to the best route. Enjoy the journey. At times it’s bumpy, but enjoy it.

Stay strong
Faith is not just believing in what you do not see, but it is equally important to appreciate the things we already have, the things around us. It is impossible to believe in what you do not see whilst you cannot appreciate what is right before you! To have faith is to be able to live happily, peacefully and with a positive attitude in imperfect atmospheres.

The Bible did not promise perfection but it says ‘in the world you will have trouble.’ Problems will arise but we have to overcome them and not to run away from them. Every hero of faith in the Bible had to face adversary. If you want to be a hero, you will meet your giants, possibly sooner rather than later. Maybe that’s why things are not so perfect around you.

The Beauty of it
Mountains look more beautiful when surrounded by valleys. A small light shines brighter in the darkest night. The imperfections and darkness around you present you with an opportunity to shine. Do not develop a habit of running away, but that of facing things and dealing with them. Spending the rest of your life chasing after perfection and forgetting to enjoy life as it is, is terrible!

Our imperfect situations tend to keep us busy praying. This is healthy spiritually. That’s why you are strong.

May God give you the courage to face your giants in this imperfect world.
