DEAD! Matilda Gyamfuah
YOUNG FEMALE journalist formerly with Space FM in Sunyani, Brong-Ahafo Regional capital, Matilda Gyamfuah, is reported dead, making it the third journalist in the region to die this year.

Matilda, who celebrated her 26th birthday on Sunday, April 19 – a day before her untimely demise – was said to have been involved in a fatal motor accident on the Berekum-Drobo road on Monday, while discharging her duty.

Until her death, she was a reporter with Drobo-based Kiss FM. She started her profession in Sunyani as an intern and worked for almost a year after her internship. She later moved to Storm FM, also in Sunyani, and finally settled with Kiss FM.

She would be buried at Mim in Ahafo, her hometown, on May 9, 2015, but the funeral rite is expected to be held at Drobo, where she worked.

Many journalists in the region who spoke to DAILY GUIDE, described Matilda as a very respectful, humble and hard working journalist.

Four months into the year, the Brong-Ahafo Region has lost three journalists. First to have departed was 50-year-old Kwaku Baffuor Asare popularly known as Winner Man, a morning show host at Dormaa FM, who died in February.

A month later, Ohene Gyan, 35, popularly known on air as Ogundele, programmes manager of Nkoranza-based Jerryson FM, also died on March 9 after a protracted ailment.
