Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it, Proverb 22:6.According to the promise of Proverbs, a child who is diligently trained in the 'way he should go' will remain true to that way in this life and reap its rewards in the next.

Parents have been given the privilege of being stewards of their children's lives for a very short time, but the teaching and training they provide is eternal.

In this 21st century where children are exposed to a lot of worldly things, it is imperative for parents to arm themselves with the right values and norms to train their children so that they become acceptable to God and also become good citizens.

It is in line with this that God has inspired the residence Pastor of the International Central Gospel Church, (ICGC), Sowutuom,Pastor Sampson Tawiah to author a book to give guidelines to parents on how to mentor their children according to God's will.

The book titled, 'How to Train Your Child, to be Who God Created Him to be' gives a full techniques of how a child can be nurtured in the parents own home to grow into a spiritually, morally and intellectually balanced child ready to mature into a godly adult, fulfill God's purpose for his and make God, his nation and parents proud.

The thought provoking book was coined from God's word, with analysis of recent times, the make- up of parents and the child and some notable obstacles that could work against the growing child and the solution.

The well-researched book also talked about the responsibilities of parents, their words and challengesin parenting a child.

At a colorful ceremony held at the Royal Tempel, ICGCAwoshielast Saturday to launch the book, the author, Pastor Sampson Tawiah, stated that the book is a well-researched book base on the word of God and God has been directing him ever since he started writing the book five years ago.

He averred that the desire to author a book on children was as a result of special interest he develops in children following an opportunity giving him by his senior pastor to speak on his behalf at a school function years ago.

The pastor pointed out that, the marriage institution instituted by God was to see Godly children natured and such parents need to have the right information to offer the directions needed.

'The marriage institution established by God was for Godly children to be raised; therefore it an incumbent on married couples to arm themselves with the right information according to God's words so that the children become who God want them to be'.

He said although it is the Holy Spirit that can actually transform our children from the cute little 'me-centered' people that they are, into God loving, God fearing, followers of Christ, it is an imperative that parents are inform with the right values to parent their children according to God's will especially in this 21st century where children are expose to worldly things.

He, therefore, urged all parents who want Godly children in their homes to get a copy of the book and seek the face of God to grant them wisdom in bringing up their children.

Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan, CEO of L'aine Service Limited speaking at the launch noted that the very core values and norms that Ghanaians cherished has been ignored, paving way to foreign cultures which aredangerous to the society going forward.

'Nowadays, there is a paradigm shift in the original values natured and cherished by our society. Universal critical principles are redefined and are giving new meanings which are more acceptable to our society. There is a lot of influence coming from all directions, thereby shifting the cornerstone of societal values and norms'.

She said that, the youth today are allowed to indulge in a lot of immoral acts because the standard for appropriate manners has been eroded.

'There is no standard for appropriate behavior nowadays; the youth seem not to care about the societal values and norms anymore. Having sex is as if having a hand shake without any considerations'.

Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan, who was passionate about youth development, stated that Christian values are no longer fashionable nowadays and has fingered Christians for championing such immoral activities in the society.

'Christian values and norms are no longer fashionable, the few who chose to uphold it are unpopular and are castigated by their peers. The unfortunate is that people that sing in the churches, preach the word of God are those championing the unwarranted acts in the society'.

The CIMG marketing woman of the year, 2011, was of the view that in as much as parenting is a privilege, it also comes with responsibility and parents must seek the wisdom of God to help them bring up their children according to God's will.

She averred that if parents gave their wards the right foundation base on the word of God, it will go a long way to determine how they will respond to the influence of the world and it will help them in becoming who God want them to be.

She urged parents to say responsible things and impart Godly morals and wisdom into their children so that when they grow up these principles will surface to encourage them to develop their own relationship with God.

Present at the launch of the book were powerful personalities and men of God including the Anglican archbishop of Ghana and West Africa, Most Rev. Prof. Dr. Daniele YinkahSarfo, Pastor Samuel Awuku - Gyekye, ICGC Awoshie,Rev. Prof. Joshua Owusu - Sekyere, University of Cape Coast, Nana Apiegyei Danka and a host of others who all recommended the book to parents in the country.
