The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Joy Industries Limited, Dr. Manfred Takyi, has presented sanitation equipment worth over GH'15,000 to the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD).

The items were handed over to the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Alhaji Collins Dauda during a brief ceremony at the forecourt of the factory located at Akwadum, near Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

The items included 15 wheelbarrows, Wellington boots and rakes, 3,000 branded T-shirts, 10 cartons of Joy alcoholic beverages and 1,000 nose masks and hand gloves.

The CEO of Joy Industries Limited, presenting the items, said the donation formed part of the company's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to support the National Sanitation Day exercise.

He described the National Sanitation Day as a timely initiative that would encourage Ghanaians to clean their environment.

Dr. Manfred Takyi added the management of Joy Industries has also instructed BRYT FM, the company's FM station to play the MLGRD Sanitation jingles free each month till the end of the year, adding that the company has made other donations to a number of institutions and security agencies in the Eastern Region.

Alhaji Collins Dauda, who received the items on behalf of the Ministry, praised the management of Joy Industries for the gesture, saying that he was particularly impressed by the quantity of items donated.

He also commended management of Joy Industries for siting the factory in a rural community to create jobs for the rural dwellers to improve their standard of living.

Alhaji Collins Dauda also called on the indigenes of Akwadum to collaborate with the company for their mutual benefit, adding that other investors should equally consider setting up their companies in rural communities.

The CEO of Joy Industries Limited, in an interview, said the company, which was started 10 years ago from humble beginnings, has developed five products made up of alcoholic beverages and body ointments.
